The Undergraduate Program
The Department of Statistics at UC Davis offers a large and varied collection of courses in statistical theory, methodology, and application. Based on these offerings, a student can complete a minor or a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics or a Bachelor's Degree in Data Science.
Data Science Program
Data Science majors receive a Bachelor of Science degree. The B.S. degree program has one track, the Foundations track.

- Data Science-Foundations Track (B.S.)
- Emphasizes the underlying computer science, engineering, mathematics and statistics methodology and theory, and is especially recommended as preparation for graduate study in data science or related fields.

Statistics Programs
Students can complete a minor in Statistics or a Bachelor's Degree. Statistics offers both a Bachelor of Arts (A.B.) and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Statistics. Minor
- Statistics Minor
- The minor consists of five upper division level courses focusing on the fundamentals of mathematical statistics and the most widely used applied statistical methods.

Major
- Statistics-Applied Statistics Track (A.B.)
- Emphasizes statistical applications. This major track is recommended for students who are interested in applications of statistical techniques to various disciplines, especially the social sciences.
Major Requirements (A.B.) - Statistics-Applied Statistics Track (B.S.)
- Emphasizes statistical applications. This major track is recommended for students who are interested in applications of statistical techniques to various disciplines including the biological, physical and social sciences.
Major Requirements (B.S.) - Statistics-Computational Statistics Track (B.S.)
- Emphasizes computing. This major track is recommended for students interested in the computational and data management aspects of statistical analysis.
Major Requirements (B.S.) - Statistics-General Track (B.S.)
- Emphasizes statistical theory and is especially recommended as preparation for graduate study in statistics.
Major Requirements (B.S.) - Statistics-Machine Learning Track (B.S.)
- Emphasizes algorithmic and theoretical aspects of statistical learning methodologies that are geared towards building predictive and explanatory models for large and complex data. It is recommended for students interested in pursuing graduate programs in statistics, machine learning, or data science, as well as for students interested in learning statistical techniques for industry.
Major Requirements (B.S.) - Statistics-Statistical Data Science Track (B.S.)
- Emphasizes data handling skills and statistical computation. This track is recommended for students interested in statistical learning methodology, advanced data handling techniques and computational aspects of statistical analysis.
Major Requirements (B.S.)
All options provide students with in-depth exposure to modern statistical reasoning and the science of statistical modeling. Majors develop the skills needed to utilize statistical techniques for addressing quantitative, data-based problems in fields as diverse as the biological and social sciences, engineering and technology, business, finance, and law, as well as health and education.
