Student Seminar Series

DATE:              Tuesday, October 17th, 2017, 4:00pm

LOCATION:      MSB 1147 (Colloquium Room).

SPEAKERS:       Hyeyeong Choe, Post-Doctoral scholar, Environmental Science & Policy, UC Davis

TITLE:              “How statistics are used in ecological models and conservation planning”

ABSTRACT:    Hyeyeong’s work centers on developing conservation strategies under climate change. In today’s talk, she will present how she evaluated the plant species richness for South Korea using insufficient survey data and how she developed climate change adaptation strategies for climatically-vulnerable species groups. She will briefly talk about species distribution models and about how she applied cluster analysis to classify over 2000 species into five groups with similar distributions.
